If it’s any comfort to you, I have let manuscripts sit for years. I finish one and then I simply move on to the next project. When I finally get back to my first manuscript, after getting completely absorbed in another project, I can see what is wrong with it. (I broke my rule once. I sent a short story to a literary journal without the necessary break time, thinking it would be rejected. It wasn’t. I edited furiously, and sent them a revision, but they went ahead and published my first version anyway, with ALL the errors. Lesson learned.)
